I had the lap-band 10/30/03 in Monterrey, Mexico by Dr. Rumbaut. First of all, I have worked in MANY hospitals in my 25 years of nursing and none has been as nice, modern, well staffed by competent nurses and aesthetically pleasing as this hospital in Monterrey. I've also known lots of surgeons and few as experienced, humorous and dedicated and skilled as Dr. Rumbaut. He has done thousands of this procedure, teaches surgeons all across the world and is co-author of the book on lab-band surgery. Also Dr. Rumbaut has had the procedure himself, so he can speak from experience.

I no longer use insulin for my diabetes which is in good control. I never had blood pressure problems, so that hasn't changed. I am sure my heart and lungs are happy, as are my knees! I met my personal weight loss goal about 25 pounds ago, but am quite satisfied with the extra weight loss at this point.
