My name is Melissa. I always knew I was over weight, but it was not until I had problems purchasing pants that fit that I knew I was in trouble! I did not have any medical issues related to my weight, but I knew that if I continued at 300+ lbs it would not be long before I suffered from multiple medical conditions.

I had an adjustable gastric band placed in October of 2002 by Dr. Rumbaut. I have lost 135 lbs in 2 years. I lost 90 lbs in the first 8 months. I have continued to lose weight and am 10 lbs from my goal. I chose Dr. Rumbaut because of the number of procedures that he had done and on interviews with his patients. All of his patients speak glowingly of his surgical skills, interpersonal skills as well as his true interest and passion for helping people who are obese. One of the things that impressed me was that some of his patients reported that they called his cell phone after the surgery with questions and Dr. Rumbaut answered the phone and readily assisted them! This would NEVER happen with a MD in America. I have not had to call Dr. Rumbaut but if I ever did, I feel confident that he would do everything he could to assist me. I am in the healthcare field, and as a professional I believe that Dr. Rumbaut is an exceptional surgeon and person.

The hospital was very clean and well run. The nursing staff was competent. Pain is minimal. I tell everyone that it felt like I did 1000 crunches! Sore, but not really pain.

Dr. Rumbaut made it a point to speak with my sister after the operation to let her know how I was doing. My sister was very surprised at how down to earth Dr. Rumbaut was and how much he cared about his patients. The entire procedure went very smoothly; in fact I was at the local mall in Monterrey the second day after surgery!

I have not had any complications from the procedure and did not need an adjustment or “fill” until I had lost 80 lbs. I chalk my success up to Dr. Rumbaut's surgical skills! am very happy to say that Dr. Rumbaut performed my surgery. I couldn’t be happier. The placement of my band was the best money I ever spent!
