Gastric banding is an obesity surgical treatment that allows patients to reduce the amount of food consumed and thereby obtain the desired weight reduction. There are two types of gastric bands, the nonadjustable gastric bands and adjustable ones.

This is a new advanced laparoscopic technique for treating obesity, where the adjustable gastric band is placed through a single incision instead of five used in traditional laparoscopic gastric banding.
