Dr. Roberto Rumbaut is one of the most experienced Bariatric Surgeons in Mexico and Latin America, with 18 years of experience and over 6000 Procedures. He has been an open bariatric surgeon since 1993 and a laparoscopic bariatric surgeon since 1994.

In 1996 Dr. Roberto Rumbaut studied at the University of Padova, Italy with the renowned bariatric surgeon Dr. Franco Favretti who innovated and standardized the surgical technique for gastric band surgery (Lap-Band).

In addition to his busy practice at the Obesity Surgery Center in Monterrey, Dr. Roberto Rumbaut participates in bariatric surgery workshops in Mexico and around the world on a regular basis. He has trained hundreds of surgeons in laparoscopic LAPBAND® placement throughout Latin America and the United States, As a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for Inamed LAP-BAND® System, Dr. Roberto Rumbaut is part of an exclusive bariatric surgeon community approved to train and proctor lap band surgeons in the United States.

Dr. Roberto Rumbaut is the first surgeon in Mexico to perform the laparoscopic gastric bypass procedure in 1998. He is a member of The ILOST Group (International Laparoscopic Obesity Surgery Team), an elite group of world-renowned surgeons in laparoscopic bariatric surgery. Being the only surgeon in Mexico qualified to perform Robotic Obesity Surgery (Da Vinci Robot) Dr. Roberto Rumbaut is on the forefront of obesity surgery offering safety and long term result.
